Secure h1. Background
Previously, the mechanism to configure the root Marathon instance in DC/OS has been rather nonexistent; various unwritten methods included editing DC/OS component files that did not survive upgrade. With the release of DC/OS 1.10.8, and DC/OS 1.11.4, a mechanism has been introduced to customize root Marathon parameters, including the tuning of timeouts, limits, and enabling experimental features. Unfortunately, this mechanism was not well documented in the change log for DC/OS, so most people are unaware that this better configuration mechanism exists.
A new page should be added under the following section:
Perhaps it can be merged with the backup/restore section.
The user should be able to perform the following tasks after reading the page:
- Customize the JVM options for Marathon (increasing the heap size, etc.)
- Customize any of Marathon's various command line parameters
- Perform these changes in a way such that they persist with upgrade (they make the changes to /var/lib/dcos/marathon/environment)
