      Description

Using the short hostname will not resolve without additional modification. I believe this is due to the gen_resolvconf.py file not adding the "search" field correctly to /etc/resolv.conf

      I am seeing:

      search ["us-east-2.compute.internal"]

      When it should be:

      search us-east-2.compute.internal

In addition to this problem, while you do have the "option" to add additional search domains, upon entering more than one, you receive an error stating that a "comma is not allowed"

The big problem really arrises when we try to deploy Spark services, since we constantly see failures similar to  "unknown hostname ip-10-0-1-119". Our fix currently consists of adding details to the /etc/hosts file or resolve head.
